First weekly Update ...in the last ..bunches of months.

So As of March 27th we are playing with one of my favorite bands evs, Born Empty. I'm so glad to get to rock it with these gentlemen. But not only that, Popular Genius, the last band I was in, is playing an impromptu re-union show. So it's a big deal.

Working on T-shirt designs.

I've been thinking about maybe doing a video for youtube... so it can swirl around and infect the inter-webs with our non-NBA-sanctioned rock.

I saw Coraline. It's gorgeous, and the music is insane. Go see it and love it up.

Also ...most importantly, Street Fighter 4 comes out tomorrow. So ..all other creative ventures will respectfully be flushed down the toilet.

I hope every one is doing well. and I'll try to keep you guys up to date.

peace,

Digital Business

Whew! ...so I've been spending an unhealthy amount of time sitting in front of a computer basically for this:

www.lastfm.com

Basically, I've been trying to get my music on as many sites as I can. It's a weird feeling of getting something done and still feeling gross for sitting in one place all friggin day. I eventually do all this stuff because I collapse under the feeling of "having" to do something with my day. I am trying to do legitimate work as little as possible while I'm "working" on art and music. I am repeatedly slapped in the face by how honestly lazy I am. It's really incredible. I can out-sloth just about anyone I'd think.

I say all of this because I guess I don't know what I'm doing. I am 26. I am sitting in the eye of a storm. Mostly of great things and blessings, all on the verge of falling into place. But I am too caught up with the unsettled nature of it all. I never liked writing things that I felt were too weepy or demanding of others attention. Like crying in public. But it's necessary sometimes I guess. It's crazy; my days are solid and bathed in goodness and protection. Yet, my emotional state is so turbulent. This life is good! It is joyous and I'm am so glad that my Father doesn't wail on me for being stupid about it. Anyway, I'm glad to be alive. I'm thankful for what my God has blessed my hands to be able to produce. Thanks for listening.

all the love.

The Splendiferousness!

Well hello again to one and all. I'm writing this first to update you on the band happenings ...with makes sense considering that I've titled this "Slam Dunk Contest". We've been practicing. As in with the full band, and it's been awesome! I'm so excited to play for you guys, I think it's going to be really great. Honestly! We have a tentative show lined up for the 17th of July! It will be at the Rutledge and rock will happen whether you are prepared or not. I should be getting the record pressed this week which means : THINGS FOR YOU TO BUY!

I'm just sayin' ..if The Quaid likes it, then ..heck EVERYONE will like it. THat is a promise from the guy who singlehandedly defeated an alien invasion in Independence Day!

I promise that I'll write something that isn't shallow and just a set of announcements! But right now I only write while I'm at work ...and it's hard to be introspective when your boss is on your case for not doing ANYTHING.

So Ta-ta for now. Love to all.

A quick note of notes ...

Alright, so for all those who read this ...(a tumble weed passes slowly) ..we have officially played 2! COUNT EM' 2 shows. Now both were pretty impromptu acoustic jams, consisting of only 4 songs each, but rock was still delivered first class with a document attached that was only to be signed when it was detonated directly in the face! My brother has got what it takes ladies and gentleman! So soon will our electric debut be upon us, that even I, Scott Lee Van Dusen, have chills running up the length of what is left of my spinal column. (the back develops problems when you've spent your life playing video games ...apparently bones aren't all that big into a gnarly amount of "hunching" ..)
So prepare yourselves for swift and righteous devastation of your preconceived musical ...likes. I guess.
Because Lo! Doth come this way hence, a furious leviathan of metal-infused/rock-with-catchy-melodies that bring-ith the thundering of a thousand Mastodons that have been duct-taped to MANY large badgers who have been painstakingly taught to shriek in unison as the once-great monster truck, BIG FOOT, gains sentience and leads an army of other, lesser, monster trucks to tell the world of the fantasticism of SLAM DUNK CONTEST!!!!!

Seriously though, it's going to be really fun and I'm super siked to see everyone there. My brother is playing bass for me and my roommate, John Whitney Stiles, is playing guitar. Drums will be covered by my old friend and many-time former bandmate Andrew Bissell.

Ok ..I'm about to get in trouble at work, so I'm wrapping it up. Talk to you soon. All the love, peace.

Reader Update 3: "A Galaxy at War"

So this very very may well be the most disjointed blog I've written ever. "Why is that?" I'm sure no-one asks? Well I'm trying to piece this together in between my boss walking into my cubicle and pretending to look like I'm working. So expect drama, a little intrigue, and who knows, maybe even a laugh or two. BUT ONLY TWO! No son of mine will be tellin' jokes instead of doin' honest labor!

So I'm going to be playing at a Church ...thing. It's going to be acoustic and, I suppose, my first performance really. It will be really low key, with just my drummer and me. It will be the first time I've performed my stuff in front of someone who's name isn't "My Mom". It's on May 6th, at the Anchor. I believe the show starts at 7. I think there is going to be a couple of acts, so it may be a shorter set. Who can say.

My bro is moving in for a heench (that's metric for 4 months). So we will be an unstoppable unit referred to only as "The Van Dusen". But with the joy of Lil' Rowdy moving in comes the sadness brought on my the absence of my other roommate, Bryan Greenway. He's left to go sing at a theme park. There he will be "sangin'" to many folks for many Hamiltons(read: money). But the house won't be the same. My brother is great and all. He's actually an incredible person who I'm terribly proud of and I'll write about him soon. But who am I going to watch Jewelry Television with? Who is going to text me during the day about "Fancy Colored Diamonds" and the "Spice Mix"?
Yet, he'll be back and with him, bringing the cool north winds whence a new fall shall be ambling ....this way ....hence ....doth ...(sigh).

Ok so yeah, what else? Oh I threw up Mexican last night! How 'bout that? Ok That may be all I have for right now. I hope that you're having a good day, and maybe get to be outside for a bit. Peace.

What Time is It? ....practice time. ...that's what.

Hello to all, and to all ..a hello.

Here it is April, and we (read : "I" ) are just getting ready to begin to gear up for thinking about getting the ball rolling with band practice! It's taken some time.
Now, I'm super nervous (which sadly is not a super power ...instead more of a "super psychological condition"!), and yet I'm also very excited. The band will be having it's first practice in about a week or so. Soon to follow that we will be directly located "In-Yo-Face" and rocking it out, ...big time.

In other news, I'm going to Moldova for a second time. It's in July, so I'm going to be doing benefit shows and other such shenanigans. I may set up a paypal account so if anyone feels pulled by the Lord to give me money, they may easily do so. You'd be surprised by how few American's EVERY DAY don't take advantage of how easy it is to give me money! It's easier than fending off tigers with only a make shift torch! That's pennies a DAY!! Now, I know what you're saying(mostly because of wire tapping). You're saying "Scott, you're fantastically successful, AND a humanitarian, I just don't think I have anything to contribute." Oh my friend, ...my ...delightful friend, of course you can help. Even you can make a pledge to help at the low cost of 2300 dollars. THat's chump change!

Anyway, all that to say, yes, I would love support, and when the time comes I will be legitimately asking for it, but probably not with goofy(yet witty) jokes.

ps. (pine-sol) I am excited to start writing again, I don't with any kind of frequency and I miss it, so ...uh ..."Up and At Them!"
